Key highway works along London Road in Binfield, between Coppid Beech roundabout and Murrell Hill Lane, will begin in January 2017. Bellway Homes is overseeing the work to create two new dedicated access roads to the north of London Road, near John Nike Way, into its new development, Amen Corner.
Amen Corner (North), will consist of 377 new homes, comprising of one and two bedroom apartments, and two, three, four and five bedroom homes including a selection of private and affordable housing for first-time buyers, families, down-sizers and young people. A new primary school will create 210 new school places for children from the Binfield area, including a sports field and hard playground area, and is set to open in September 2018.
Amen Corner (North) will include significant areas of open space, a toddler’s playground and children’s activity trail. In addition, ecologists working on behalf of Bellway will also carry out works to restore and enhance the existing ancient woodland areas as well as create a new Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space (SANG). Interlinked green spaces will weave their way through the development, along with important infrastructure to provide a sustainable urban drainage system and varied habitats.
Bellway Homes have been working closely with Bracknell Forest Council to minimise the disruption that will be caused by the necessary highway improvement works. The roadworks are due to start on 17th January 2017 and are programmed to take approximately 12 months. As well as the new accesses, works will include widening the road, rebuilding the central reservation, and completing the shared footpath / cyclepath along London Road between Binfield and Wokingham. London Road will remain open, but will initially be restricted to a single lane in the eastbound direction, with localised speed restrictions for the protection of the workforce and the public for the duration of the highway works.
Initially the works to London Road, Binfield will take place between the hours of 9:30am and 3:30pm Monday to Friday, and when necessary between 9am and 5pm on Saturdays. Full details of the works and any planned diversions will be made available closer to the time via the dedicated website. Twenty-four-hour access will be maintained for businesses located within this stretch of London Road throughout the duration of the works

The works will be carried out by highway specialists Walkers Construction in conjunction with PJ Brown on behalf of Bellway Homes and the flow of traffic and the works will be monitored and inspected by Bracknell Forest Council.
