Ecology at Amen Corner

Ecology

The Amen Corner development by Bellway Homes will include significant areas of open space, a toddler’s playground and children’s activity trail. Interlinked green spaces will weave their way through the development, along with important infrastructure to provide a sustainable urban drainage system and varied habitats. In addition, ecologists working on behalf of Bellway Homes will also carry out works to restore and enhance the existing ancient woodland areas as well as create a new Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space (SANG).

Outdoor sports provision will be provided in the form of a junior sports pitch located in the south-west corner of the development. The adventure trail will sit along the Blackman Copse for older children and consist of timber balancing and climbing equipment to reflect the character of the woodland area. The grass play area for young children includes small scale equipment on turf lawns and is enclosed with flowering plants.

Bellway Homes landscapers will also plant trees and wildflower grass along the woodland area, trees along London Road frontage to create an intermittent belt of large native trees, semi-mature lime trees along principle access roads and flowerbeds of shrubs and climbing plants on boundary walls and fences, and evergreen hedges that define private gardens on either side.
