SANG stands for Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space, it is a group of existing open spaces that are due to undergo enhancements. They are designed to attract more visitors by providing an enjoyable natural environment for recreation.
The Amen Corner SANG of 9.9ha will provide a unique asset for the site and wider surrounding area. It will include public access in the form of gravel footpaths through woodland areas and open spaces. A circular walking route will be set around the SANG with information boards explaining the features of interest and places to sit provided along the way. This will in turn link to a wider network of informal recreational routes along the woodland edge and into and around Blackman’s Copse.
Bellway Homes has included the SANG to improve the green space available on the site, growing natural species by planting grassland, wildflowers, shrubs and trees.
